From 1992 to 1995 I worked for the Ph.D. degree with the Time & Frequency Dept. at the realization of a Calcium beam Optical Frequency Standard at 657 nm. Since then some of my major interests are low noise electronic circuits, radio frequency design and weak signal detection. I worked on the phase noise & short-term frequency stability measurement techniques. |

In 1995 I have joined, as permanent researcher, the Photometry & Radiometry Dept. Concerning maintainance of measurement capabilities I'm charged of the Electrical Substitution Cryogenic Radiometer (ESCR); On the research side, I'm involved with Parametric Down Conversion and its applications such quantum efficiency calibration of single photon detectors and quantum mechanics test. Our group is deeply involved in the Quantum Candela Joint Research Project. The aim of the project is the reformulation of the luminous intensity measurement unit in terms of photon number rather than in optical power. |

I'm one of the Laser Safety Officer (LSO) of INRIM Laser safety is the avoidance of laser accidents, especially those involving eye injuries. Since even relatively small amounts of laser light can lead to permanent eye injuries, the usage of lasers is subject to official regulations (IEC 60825) |

I'm interested in analog-circuit and instrumentation design. I'm enjoyed in collecting and restoring old "solid state" test and measurement equipment. I'm radioamateur since 1984 with the callsign IZ1BTS (ex IX1BTS). |
